Hawaiian Birds

$ 150.00

Paintings of four Hawaiian birds illustrating adaptive radiation.  This natural history set was inspired by the island chain's finches and honeycreepers, who are thought to have originated from a common finch-like ancestor, and evolved into various species occupying different ecological niches.  The diversity of beak shape indicates their specialized skills in foraging for food.
