Mourning Dove Theotokos

A Mourning Dove gazes down at her small squabs, each with a gold leaf halo.  Her nest is made of twigs and floral vines on a background of glowing greens. This Theotokos image is inspired by Byzantine and Orthodox renderings of mother and child, and is meant to depict the devotion avian parents show for their young.  Set in a dark wood frame with velvet backing.
