About the Artist

Ashley Dietrich holds BFAs in Art History and Studio Art, a minor in Philosophy, and did graduate studies in Archaeology and Biocultural Anthropology with the Byzantine St Stephens Project at the University of Notre Dame. Her artwork is dedicated to funding Olive's Place Dove & Pigeon Sanctuary Inc, a nonprofit she founded in Oklahoma USA to provide long-term care for disabled and domestic birds.

Ashley’s paintings feature avian subjects, inspired and informed by her years as a wildlife rehabilitator. She depicts birds naturalistically, yet renders them in an illustrative and symbolic manner – creating an otherworldly environment with gold leafing, embellishments, and ornate backgrounds. Current projects explore anthropomorphism through stylized portraits, which investigate the themes of veneration and symbolism.

The choice to communicate reverence for the sanctity of animal life is at the core of the use of religious imagery. This is the ideal visual language to express awe, and designate value and respect. The process of painting and ornamentation of these pieces are meditative activities, tied to the mission of the sanctuary itself - to encourage the viewer to contemplate the value we place on individual animal lives.

Shipping

Artwork ships within 1 week (usually within 2-3 business days). I take responsibility for making sure your artwork arrives safely. Art is carefully packaged and you'll be sent tracking upon shipment.

Most pieces are available to ship abroad. If you want to purchase multiple pieces at once or request shipping for a piece not already offered internationally, please email canvasdove@gmail.com Please note that the website may allow a purchase of multiple pieces for the same shipping rate, but this may not be accurate - most orders of more than one artwork will require additional charges. If you go ahead and purchase multiple artworks, and the rate is $10 or more in error, I will contact you to request additional charges or refund the difference - whichever is called for.

Gifts

You can request giftwrap (or a note) by emailing canvasdove@gmail.com your request immediately upon ordering. If you want art shipped directly to the recipient, you must check out using their shipping address - and please notify the receiver to expect the package.

Returns

All artwork is represented as accurately as possible, though variations in screens may cause colors to appear different. All dimensions are correct within a half-inch.

Please ask questions or request additional photos before ordering if you are uncertain of an art purchase - I'm happy to help!

Damage/Loss Policy: In the unlikely event of damage, provide photos of the damage to artwork AND box/packaging within 24 hours of delivery. A signed statement of loss is required to file an insurance claim. Damaged art can be exchanged or returned after insurance is filed, and buyers cannot keep artwork if a refund is issued. Theft claims can only be processed if a police report is filed.

Returns for personal reasons: Return requests for personal reasons (does not match decor, change of heart, smaller or larger than expected, etc.) must be submitted within 3 days of delivery. The buyer is responsible for return shipping cost. A 15% fee to cover the original packaging/shipping/insurance expenses will be deducted from the refund, to be issued after artwork is received back in its original condition.

Fundraiser Donation Requests
