Barred Owl - study

Original painting on panel.  This Spotted Owl seems to be caught by surprise.  The owl's feathers are hand painted in detail with painterly brushstrokes and layers of rich neutral colors - warm grays, creamy whites, sepia browns and ochre.  Subtle hints of metallic give this piece a rich glow as it catches the light.
